Howling Music AI Policy
At Howling Music, we recognize that AI-generated music platforms such as Suno represent powerful technologies that many creators are exploring in their workflows. At the same time, we see clear risks in how AI-generated music may impact the music ecosystem as a whole. In particular, AI music blurs authorship and provenance, weakens the proprietary value of music rights, and introduces uncertainty around ownership. If left unchecked, these effects risk harming human music makers at every level of the industry.
For these reasons, we believe it is in the best interests of our clients, our composers, and the broader music community to take a clear position. Effective immediately, any music submitted to Howling Music must be 100% human-made, without exception.
For most of our composer partners, this will not represent a change. The majority have been creating music this way all along. However, we recognize that AI platforms present a tempting shortcut, and we want to be explicit and proactive in asking that AI tools not be used in the creation of music assigned to Howling Music.
We believe this standard protects the integrity of the work, the livelihoods of composers, and the trust our clients place in our music. As AI-generated music becomes more prevalent, verified human music becomes a meaningful differentiator. To support that clarity, we will be using AI-detection tools—not out of mistrust, but to independently confirm provenance and to assure our clients that the music they license has been scrutinized and verified as human-made.
We see this commitment as an investment in our shared future as music makers. The coming year will bring continued change, pressure, and opportunity, and we believe that setting clear standards now will serve all of us as the landscape continues to evolve.
